RAMAKRISHNA - BIOGRAFIA
In February 1836 he was born in Kamalpukur, in a small Bengal village, Gadadnar, to a brahmina family. He, who for unknown reasons changed his name to Ramakrishna, was a vivid and clear example of continuous inner research and profound spirituality. Today India venerates him as one of the greatest geniuses of the Spirit, to the point of classifying him an Avatar, that is, a pure incarnation of the aspect of Vishnu. There are many in India who claim that, due to his particular and marked inclination towards the Spirit (Atman), the holy Ramakrishna can be placed on the same spiritual level as a Christ and a Buddha. In his childhood he was reluctant to normal studies, but forms of ecstasy and visions soon manifested in him, which encouraged him and pushed him to continue to deepen the way of the Spirit. The father died when he was just over seven years old and his mother, who was a truly pious and religious woman, devoted herself totally to meditation and prayer. As a result, the older brother took over the family. At about seventeen Ramakrishna entered as a custodian in a temple dedicated to the Goddess Kali, in Dakshineshwar on the banks of the Ganges. This greatly affected his life and his spiritual realization. He had several teachers who helped him in his ascent to inner realization. Among which one of the most important was a Tantrist religious - Bhairavi Brahmani - who gave him the initiation to the many tantric disciplines, which will remain the basis of his deep spirituality until his Maha Samadhi. Another of his teachers was an itinerant ascetic - Totapuri - who allowed him access to non-dual Samadhi, an important goal to be able to reconcile the spiritual life with the earthly aspect. One of his truly unique experiences was that of reaching for six months the state of Samadhi, a goal to which no mystic, whom history remembers, has ever arrived. In this total transfiguration in the Divine, Ramakrishna was forcibly fed by a sannyasin who stuck small pieces of food and a few sips of water between his lips. Another particular experience was that which he had with the various religions. He followed one by one - abandoning the previous creeds and philosophies - all the most important religions then known in India. And he came to experience divine knowledge, obtaining samadhic super-consciousness, with all the religious cults he professed. This led him to assert that all religions, none excluded, have as their sole purpose the achievement of the Divine and can lead the seeker to this supreme result. After such particular vicissitudes, the energetic radiation and the profound wisdom were so strong that he did
they spread, to attract numerous disciples, some of whom - despite his limited school education - were nobel prizes; among them Rabindranath Tagore and Romain Rolland. Ramakrisha entered the culminating ecstasy (Maha Samadhi) of his earthly sojourn in 1886. The words of Ramakrishna were collected by some of his pupils, who surrounded him for a long period, until the last ecstasy. From the teaching of the Master was born "the monastic Order" and, subsequently, also the "Mission of Ramakrishna", which still count many offices in every part of the world.
